Display FPS in CS2: Steam Overlay & Console Commands
How to Display Frame Rates in CS2
If you've been immersed in the world of gaming for some time, you understand the paramount importance of frame rates. In the realm of fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping games like Counter-Strike 2, having a higher FPS can spell the difference between victory and defeat, enabling you to react swiftly and aim with precision. To assist you in monitoring your FPS, there are two effective methods to display it on your screen:
The Steam Approach
- To begin with this method, initiate by pressing 'Shift + Tab', which prompts the opening of the Steam overlay. From there, navigate to the 'Gear' icon, located at the far end of the menu.
- Within the In-Game tab menu, you'll discover the option for the In-game FPS counter.
- Subsequently, designate the location where you wish the counter to be displayed on your screen.
- Additionally, there's an option labeled as 'High Contrast Color,' which you can activate if the FPS counter lacks visibility on your screen.
Console Method
To exhibit FPS using the console, adhere to these steps:
- Launch CS2 and navigate to the settings.
- Proceed to the game tab and ensure that the Enable Developer Console option is toggled to yes (accessible by pressing the (~) key).
- With the console open, input the command "cl_showfps 1" and press enter.
- Should you desire to revert to the previous setting where FPS is not displayed on your screen, follow the same procedure, but this time, input "cl_showfps 0"
Upon executing the specified command, your current FPS will be visibly showcased on your screen. As emphasized earlier, a high FPS rate is imperative for an immersive gaming experience. If you find yourself grappling with low FPS, consider tweaking your graphics settings, adjusting brightness, resolution, and aspect ratio. While these modifications may not significantly benefit lower-end machines, they serve as a viable starting point if your frames are insufficient for optimal gameplay.
